E30 forum???

Recommended Posts

Group,

I need recommendations on what's the best E30 forum.

I broke down and bought a newer bimmer last week so my youngest BMW is not 33 years old anymore (07 models are out right). I bought a 91 E30 318i 4 door, 5 speed with M42 motor. 91 was the only year that the E30 came in a 4 door with the M42 motor. It's a one owner, with 118K it's a great car but it has some minor issues I need to discuss with other E30 M42 owners.

www.unofficialbmw.com seems to be the most mature I have been to. Other than that e30tech.com.

The 318i did not have an M42 motor.....It had an M40

M40

Straight 4 cylinder SOHC 8V. Replaced the M10. 1987-1993. 81kg 178lbs

Used in post 87 E30 316i/318i, E34 518i, Pre 93 E36 316i

1.6 (102bhp), 1.8 (122bhp)

M42

Straight 4 cylinder DOHC 16V. 1989-1996. 100kg 220lbs

Used in E30 and E36 318is, Z3

1.8 (138-142bhp)

Happy e30ing
