Vinyl Dye questions

Ok, I'm at the point now where I need to start getting my interior ready to go. I'm going to be having the doorpanels recovered soon, and there's a few things I need to know before I get really into the design I'm thinking of doing.

My car has Navy Blue and Gray 2-tone interior. I've already done the front and rear seats, and have tons of fabric left over for which to do the doorpanels with.

Originally, my car had Navy interior, so the door handles/armrests are also that same shade. However, when I have the doorpanels recovered, I'm going to have Gray inserts put in the door panels to match the 2-tone theme. The armrests will eventually be mounted on these gray areas, And I'd really rather them be dyed Gray to match, instead of a navy-blue armrest sitting on a patch of Gray fabric.

I've seen gray armrests before, but only once, and i'm pretty sure it was a custom job. Mine aren't in perfect condition, and I was considering grabbing newer ones anyways. I'm guessing i'd have to find a Tan set to re-dye, since I dont think you can dye Gray over Navy Blue.

I know Esty has done some pretty crazy things to her dash and door panels. Anyone have some good advice, or perhaps a how-to, on re-dying the door panels? Any help is greatly appreciated! (oh, and FYI, i've never done this before, so please use small words...)

I used some vinyl dye to change my rear seat from tan to black. It worked just fine. At some point I will reupholster the seat, but for now at least my seats are all the same color. It worked so well I am considering using it on the rear door panels as well.

I didn't have to do much in the way of prep or anything. The stuff adheres to clean vinyl without any trouble. I dunno about armrests, but I would imagine they would do just fine.

I got my spray dye at Autozone. It was just the regular generic stuff they had on the shelf.

You're coming out to the Vortex on Sunday...right? If so...I can show you how I redyed stuff in my car. I redid my rear door panels, front & rear armrests from tan to black. It wasn't hard. The stuff adhered fine to my armrests. I'll have to check my garage...I might have a can of the prep stuff left over. I didn't use much of it...you can have it if you'd like.
