Doors hard to close on my '75 'o2

Hi guys...Got a question. Got myself a '75 'o2 and the thing is that I have to slam the door a bit hard to get the door to close completely. Is there a fix for this? The door does close if I close it without the force but it's not completely closed. What can I do?

Thanks....Dave.

Do you have the corn colonel on the door latch mechanism?

Cris

Huh? Corn Colonel? Isn't that what Beavis called himself after a little too much sugar? What should I look for?

BTW Chris...Saw that your selling your Italian lights....How much you looking to get for them?

Thanks...Dave.

it could be because of new seals too

I'll respectfully disagree. With the vent window frame adjusted properly as well as the window, you don't have to slam it. Also, are the doors adjusted properly?

No,

That was the Great Cornholio. I need TP for my bunghole.

Check to see that the little puffers/corn kernels (colonel?)are on the door latches.

If they are, then start trying to adjust things.

Dave; If this thread is a little hard to follow it's because what they are refering to is a pliable, clear plastic item about the size of a large corn kerrnel that is hollow from one side and thus slips over one prong of the door latch.. If they're there it makes all the difference in the world on closing. As mentioned above, it could also be newer door seals which seem to require a little additional umpf to close the door.

Dave

Brad's pic is of an item that totally resolved the problem you describe that I had on my car as well.

If these are missing, it is highly unlikely (irrespective of other potential contributing causes like new seals, door alignment issues, etc) that the doors will actually close easily for you - so at a couple of bucks get these buffers and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised at such an easy fix.

The Great Cornholio -- Nicaragua!

I had the same problem with Otis -- no, not that he needed TP for his bunghole -- I'm talking about the passenger side door. It simply wouldn't close without giving it extra "umph." It was, however, far more serious - the pins and welds were all giving way (that "r" word). We had to reweld everything. Hopefully your problem is not that, but I'd give the door a serious surgical going-over, in case something is giving way.
