Did you know that a Jeep Grand Cherokee will carry two '02

Hoods (i.e Bonnets) with room to spare??? (With rear seats down obviously, and spare tire removed).

After being in the body shop almost 2 years, I finally managed to get over there to pick up my spare hoods from Hugo's restoration! :-) They both fit into the back of my Jeep no problem....I pass this along in case somebody else needs this very important information at some point.

Happy '02ing,

John

THAT would make a good FAQ.

List the various body and mechanical parts of an 02 and then how much space they take up and common vehicles they will fit into.

My addition to the list: 2002 front fenders WILL NOT fit into the trunk of an E46 unless it has the fold down rear seats. The fenders WILL fit in the back seat wrapped with several layers of towels to protect the E46 leather.

Another item:

A 2002 short block WILL fit on the passenger side floor of another 2002 once the passenger seat is removed. (*Note* Check the integrity of your floorboards prior to attempting this.)

My contribution:

An e36 325i 4-door can carry the following all at once:

- one set of trunk floorboards

- 2 complete heater box assemblies

- all headliner foam for a sunroof car, and the dome light panel

- an entire Frigiking air conditioning system with compressor and condenser

- an entire '72 2002 wiring harness in a milk-crate

- one set of rear "door" panels

- rear 3/4 glass (both sides)

- the tools necessary to remove all of the above items

If i ever got in a car accident, they'd be wondering why 1 1/2 cars worth of parts came out of my one car. Last weekend saw a lot of parts hauling around Atlanta for me.

i have*...you just have to cut the 02 into 6 smaller sections, carefully arrange the parts tetris-style and off to the junkyard.

*not recommended for normal transport.

A Toyota Prius only holds 1/4 of a 2002 (i.e. I had to make 4 trips to the landfill in my wife's car to dispose of the cut-up remains of my old 02 shell). It does, however, get 48mpg doing so.

1/4 of 2002...

That means you can only carry 500.5 of your 2002 at once.... you should try a 1500 - by the transitive property, you should be able to hold 1/3 of one of those... or nearly an entire 507.

...

Dear God, I'm a dork.

I was gonna say you need to figure the distance and the fuel economy into another equation to see which vehicle is the most efficient. Maybe this is why many cars just sit outside until the rust into the ground...their owners just don't get the 'new math'.

I picked up a 02 hood and trunk lid and fit it into my '92 Civic hatchback with room to spare on top or bottom for other flat panel items. I just needed to keep the rear liftgate down but it worked like a charm.

I'm already missing my Civic that I sold a few months ago. Slightly off topic, I also managed to haul my 42" plasma, 7 speaker home theather system including subwoofer and receiver and dvd player(separate components) in my Civic with all the doors shut. I thinks that's pretty good.
