Did the S14 starter upgrade to my '02 today

As it has been said before, smaller, lighter and torquier. Got mine for $40 from a friend who owns a BMW repair shop.

Also took care of a couple of grounding issues and cut the tailpipe so that it doesn't stick out too much.

All in all, a productive '02ing day.

Sounds like a good productiive day.

I on the other hand just looked at my car, put on a hood seal and messed around with the pile of parts that is my wiper motor and linkage.

ended up weeding, watering and landscaping. set a granite slab onto a pair of chipped cement blocks to make a bench with which to ponder the SF Bay. the granite was salvaged several years ago from SF and was actually a curbstone originally. they made em to last back in the day. set some weathered flatstone at the base. made enough room to park another car.... i quit early to work on the 02 but the afternoon winds started blowing hard and i am just getting older and not up to the amount of physical work i used to do.

tomorrow will definitely see some 02 body work, yuk...

It is a great upgrade. The car starts very quickly.

I have to get used to the sound of the new starter after listening to the big boat-anchor ones for 28 years, though.

Good work Harry. I really like my S14 starters on my M10 engines. A nice upgrade that will pay real world dividends wnen weaker starters take a dump. 40 bucks for the starter... sounds used. Oh well, get another 40 dollar one for a spare. Please say hi to my pal Victor when you have the chance. I still am looking fwd to a nice PR holiday. Best, Jay
