Switched power source, where can I tap into?

I need to run a wire from a switched 12V power source (only gets power when the key is on), and I guess also a regular 12V power source. I want to do it right and am not 100% sure where to go.

Can I tap in under one of the fuses in the fuse box? or are there existing sources to feed into.

I'm not certain on the year of your car, but I know that on my '75, there is a purple wire coming off the ignition (only about 3 inches long) with a female spade-type connector on it.

This wire *isn't* fused (to my knowledge), and was usually ran to the switched power on the stereo. Check there first before you go and tap into any wires at the fusebox.

Tap into #12 fuse @ the fuse box. It's the easiest to get to and is powered only w/ the key on. At least that's the case with squaries. I'm not sure about roundies, but my guess is that all 12-fuse cars on the same.
