has anyone swapped speedo,tach faces ?

i have a 70 with the chrome face gauges and im using a later 3.90 speedo with crosshairs. id like to swap faces to retain the original gauge faces but am nervous about pulling the needles off and screwing them up. any tips or helpful how to's??

Yeah, I did it to put use a '76 speedo geared for 391s in my '73. Once the needle is pulled, the faceplate is just held on by a couple tiny screws.

I did break the needle and had to Superglue it. Follow Curt's speedometer faq and you may have better luck with the needle.

Having broken the needles on two speedos...slow learner...I found that you would have to be able to get something (Dremmel?) to grind off the back of the needle as it is pressed onto the needle and therefore, flared. By the time you do that it you have to glue it back on anyway so go ahead and break it and re-glue it.

Blunt, on my 71' speedo I made a new face in Adobe illustrator. The car was built for the UK (speedo in miles) and is now in Australia (km). So I just made a new face in Km's that sits over the miles, I even recalibrated it when I changed diffs a while back. That might be an option for you. Beaner7102
