It was the spark plug wires....go figure.

My car started running like crap, and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I thought it was the points and condensor as it seemed not to be getting good spark. I ended up getting a pertronix setup installed, as I had a hard time finding the right points for the older distributor I had on the ol' 69 2002. I also got new plugs, fuel filter, and plug wires as one of the terminals cracked and thought new ones would be a good idea. So, I static timed it w/ a new distributor, and it still ran like junk. I made sure all vaccum leaks were plugged. Then I decided to change the wires back to the old ones and viola...runs like a champ again. My new wires have gone bad some how. So, the lesson is, if you are having ingnion woes, check your plug wires, as they made of graphite that will break if crimped. Anyway, now I have a bullet proof ignition system with a bosh blue coil (no resistor), newer distributor with pertronix electronic ignition, new plugs, but w/ the old wires! Plus I can static time a 2002 with my eyes closed. Now she's purring like a kitten, and an otherwise stock 69, is back on the road again after being parked for almost a month after a full repaint/restoration.

I had a similar problem once. It turned out the that solder joint in one of the plugwires had cracked and was giving me a really weak spark. Go figure.

Nice pic, by the way. Very clean car. Although, from the looks of your "parking system" behind the rear wheel, an e-brake adjustment is next up on the list, eh?
