Has anyone been to see this car? Is it a rip-off?

It seems too expensive for "barely runs, barely stops...."

And don't the ones from 1969 need to have the brake parts actually taken off and fixed at a machine shop, because the part is hard to find? ?

And yet, I'm slightly interested in buying it, because it is an automatic.

But $2,400 seems WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much for THIS car....

Advice & thoughts please

: )

How much money would need to be put into this?

To me, it sounds like at least $3,000 ....

Has anyone in the area been to check it out yet?

its really difficult to say without knowing what exactly is wrong. my advice is to spend a little money and have a mechanic do a complete inspection on it. the parts can become way expensive to begin piecing the car back together. you may be better off to spend $5 - $6K on a well kept car instead of spending something equivalent to resurrect a possibly abused car. good luck!

just my opinion

The non-standard 200mm rear brake shoes were phased out in early 1968, so the rear brakes should be standard. The single circuit front brakes were changed to dual circuit brakes mid-1969, so the car may or may not have the older front brakes. That is easy enough to check, just pull a front wheel and see how many brake lines feed in. Even so, I have been able to obtain calipers, cylinders, pads and shoes for the older brake system from parts networks not a machine shop. Just order the parts well in advance of when you need them.

There was a change to standardized short-neck diffs and compatible manual trannies in 1969-1970, but I know nothing about the automatics.

It's hard to tell the condition from the ad photos, but it seems to have all of its chrome. If that car has no or little rust, it seems like a decent deal at $2.4k even if it does need to have mechanicals refurbished. If it needs a repaint, that can easily cost you $5k unless you do it yourself.
