Dieseling with 74 tii

Recommended Posts

Hot spots in the combustion chamber(s)? Could be excessive carbon buildup. First thing I'd do is buy a $7 can of SeaFoam and run it through the TB or a vacuum line that feeds all cylinders. Even if it doesn't solve the problem, it's a good product that cleans the engine pretty well.

It could also be a badly adjusted pump, worn linkages, a sticking warm-up regulator or a combination of any of the above.

Did you swap your distributor with a non-vacuum unit from an earlier tii?

I already did the seafom. Though I would ASSume that hot spots would cause pre-ignition or pre-ignition induced detonation at the top end....

All good information. Not sure on the distrbutor, I know it is not the unit the manual states it should have. off the top of my head it is a 231 188 and I think 002....could be wrong though...

It's sounds like stoolpusher syndrome, did you read the responses from the last time you asked this question?

I just did a search for dieseling and I only have one post with the word dieseling.....so I am not quite sure what you mean....

As for "stoolpusher syndrome" no clue what that is.
