Wrong Dizzy for '74tii?

Recommended Posts

So today I am going through the ignition side of my tii and see that the rotor and cap i ordered for the '74 don't fit.....

The dizzy in there is a 231 188 002

The manual says it should have a 231 180 013.

What dizzy is the 002? This car was a racers car and I don't know if he modified something for better performance or if a previous owner got cheap and just replaced it with the wrong dizzy.

'002 is the replacment part number and is a equivlant to a '008....... at least according to Bosch. 013 is basically a 008 with a vacuum hookup off it. It has a slightly different curve, but will run fine in a '74.

There are slight differences in the advance curves due to the slight spring and weight size differences between 008/002 them. Someone on the board tested them. In the archives I took pictures of the physical differences between the two.

Either way, the advance curves of all three are fairly close and your tii should run fine with any of the above dizzys.

Right now, my '74 tii has a '008 that someone rebuilt and modified with a vacuum hookup.
