Exhaust sound question does a resonator make things more

Kind of a gerneal question for exhaust systems. I have a 75" with a stock motor and stock exhaust (no Cat & no Resonator) back to a stock muffler. Present sound is very quiet. If I were to install a "resonator" a couple feet back from the downpipe connection, would that make things quieter or louder?

If you think your car is quiet with only a stock rear muffler, then it will likely be quieter by adding the stock center resonator. But, then it might sound better. I like the sound of a stock system. No ricey, farty, buzzy noises.
