1976 2002:Reconnecting Fasten seat Belt Display

I may be nuts but I want to see if I can re-connect the seat belt, etc warning on my dash

There is a wire with 2 male connections next to the driver seat belt fastener. There is another wire under the passenger seat with 2 female connections.

Do these 2 connect?

There are a few other single wires under the passenger seat

Are these part of the process too?

Thanks

I'm not sure if you need those wires on the seats hooked up. I think they went to a switch in the seat that detected the weight of the driver sitting down (with the seat belt on too I think) and allowed the car to start....no driver with belt on, then the car wouldn't start. The switch was poor quality and usually failed which will cause the fuse to blow for the circuit the reason why most are disconnected. The dash mounted fasten seatbelt light works off of a relay under the dash which is connected to wires that come off the ignition switch (it's silver and about an inch square)....this same relay also works a buzzer that is supposed to sound when the light is lit (it may also sound when the key is in the ignition). Usually this relay fails (I think...not 100% here so maybe someone else can back me) and then the light and/or the buzzer stops working. My ex-'75 had the the seat belt light and buzzer function...but the wires under the seat were disconnected.

Forgot to mention too that all '75 models and Cali '76 models had the Reactor Service and EGR lights in addition to the seatbelt light mounted in that idiot light pod on top the dash. Not sure if your '76 has these two lights as well but if they don't work, then there is most likely a problem with the control module that is spliced in between the speedo cable. If you look down near the pedal box under the hood, you should find this module. There is an electric connector going to it and it has two reset buttons that turn off the Reactor and EGR service lights once they come on. I've never taken the box apart but there is some kind of mechanical timer thing inside that is driven off the speedo cable and turns on those two idiot lights at certian mileage intervals. If these two lights never come on in your car then there is most likley a problem with the module.
