need trick to replace brake light switch w/ 5 speed in...

does anyone have a trick for changing the brake light switch on a 5 speed tranny while the tranny is still on the car? it seems impossible to reach. any sugestions welcome. Not looking forward to taking everything off to gian access to that switch. Thanks a lot. Jay

Sorry, isn't the brake light switch located at the back of the brake booster, way up above the tranny?

Say, isn't the brake light switch at the pedal assembly on the firewall, not on the tranny? Are you referring to the reverse light switch?

(Don't kick yourself for this) Reach from the engine compartment! I was about to pull a 5spd tranny right after install when I found that the switch didn't work, then I realized you can reach it from above. ;-)

i will probably try the top access method, and if I fail, no big deal. I will just make sure the switch on the next tranny is working( as this one was) before installation. Thanks for the feedback. Jay
