tires and wheels What tire to use with 15" wheels?

Esteemed members of the '02 community:

I've got a flared and lowered '74, terbo look alike.

I bought some 15" Mini Cooper "phone dial" wheels. for a bit of bling.

There's lots of 15's, but there's the height of the tire's profile to deal with.

So, what size tire do you recommend, or what's the scientific method to determine the "proper" tire size?

Very handy for what you are wanting to do.

For example, a 195/55-15 tire is the same height as the 165/80-13 tire.

Aren't the Mini Cooper Wheels 40mm offset and if so, are you using spacers with them? I would think they would be really far inward, especially with flares.

You didn't mention what your wheel width is, but if they're 7" you could also go with 205/50x15. The diameter is slightly less than original, but not drasticly different (orig.=23.39"; 205/50x15= 23.07" dia.)

I'll check the offset. I wanna say that they're ET33. I do not know that for a fact.

I 'ppreciate the wheel/ tire calculator info.

I'm pretty certain that they're a 7 inch width. I'm running a 206/60-13 currently.

I don't have flared fenders but run 195/55/15's on my car and have issues with inner fender rub when turning tight corners, especially if the suspension is under significant load. Next time around I'll get 195/50's.
