Headliner Blues

One more time. Installing the headliner with a sunroof is not a easy job for a firstimer. I knew this going in. So...just do it. I use all the advise given, got the "3m super" preped all the surface areas with a cleaner then a degreaser. Sprayed both surfaces the way it said on the can. waited 10 min. and stuck it. Not so bad. When done it really looked great. Now the bad. 2 months later it gets really hot here. I open the S/R not for the first time and look up and the headliners pulling loose. the glue had turned to some gummy crap and every day it's getting worse. F@#%*K!! Just recieved the new headliner yesterday and I'm looking for some advise. Help!!

Or is it pulling loose where the sunroof slides in ? Try Gorilla Glue. Bad ass stuff. I had problems where the sunroof slides in when open when I replaced mine. If it's coming loose on the panel it self did the headliner piece for the sunroof have a piece of material sewn on the underside for the cross support ?

Every place the 3m stuff is except where the molding holds it. Even the middle of the S/R now sags. I used the 3m other crap for my hood pad and the pad came loose while I was running about 80 down the interstate. My fan loved the company so did my header.

I had the same problem with Home Depot variety contact cement (weldwood brand) I went to an auto upolstry shop and did a side by side comparison with the glue that he buys in bulk. Heat gun caused the weldwood to soften and let go. His industrial grade held tight. Go buy an empty paint can and take it to an auto upolstry shop and buy their industrial grade glue. Probably some funky safety reason that prohibits sale of the good stuff over the counter.

hmmm... did you use 'Spray 90'?

8 years later, that's still holding Jenn's sunroof headliner in place...

But it doesn't get (quite) as hot here... it's in the mid- 90's this week, and that's odd for us.
