Remote Starter Attachment?

Where do I hook up a remote, push button starter? Connecting to the starter terminals spins the starter, but it doesn't energize the solenoid and engage the flywheel.

that should do the trick.

Use a 20A switch.

If there are 2 lugs, pull off each contact in turn and meter it while you 'crank' the car with the key- you're looking for the one that goes hot! I THINK it's the bottom one, but it's been a long time since I messed with that version...

2 ways to do this: Pull the small wire going to bottom (edit) terminal of starter,& take medium size flat blade screwdriver & use it to short top terminal to big wire from battery (13mm nut).

More elegant way, on the engine diagnostic connector, there are 2 terminals you can connect your bump switch to, but I don't know which ones, maybe someone else can chime in on this. (edit) the terminal is found easy with an ohm meter, pull the starter wire (small one) then check for 0 ohms to each of the terminals in the diagnostic connector, only one will show 0. That is the terminal you need. Then just run switch with 12V on one side, other side to the terminal. The post below says bottom back, it was upper left terminal in my car (75 manual 02).

I took a 3" length of #4 copper wire (it's thick) and ground one end down to a dull point. Connect the red alligator clip from your remote starter on this and insert into the rear, driver's side hole on the little diagnostic plug. Connect the black lead to the + battery terminal and you're all set.

the start lug is on the bottom.

If you just hotwire the motor,

the bendix doesn't engage,

and the motor just whiirrrrrrrrsss....
