Is there a difference in the nose sheet metal from pre 73 and from 73 and up?

It seems like there is but I cant tell from the pix.

I was looking at some pieces for sale and the 68 to 72 front ends are about a grand but the 73 and up's are a couple hundred (255 euro)

Why such a big difference?

Thanks

Thanks, so if I got the 73 and up nose I would have to put on the plastic grille inserts instead of the metal ones. It's a 71 roundie.

That wouldn't look right would it.

You are looking at replacing the nose section on your 2002?

I paid AU$890 for the 73+ front of my car, brand new from my local BMW dealer.

I'm sure BLUNT will be able to tell you what a brand new one will cost you - unkorama at gmail dot com... he can get OEM grille inserts as well.

If you plan on replacing the front with a newer style, you will have to get new style grilles. That wouldn't be advised though - originality would be jeopardized.

Wow that's expensive, must have been the shipping that made it that much.

They have it here for 255Euro. http://www.wallothnesch.com/e/frameoffer.htm

No, I don't want to make the 71 into a 73, it wouldn't be right. I thought that if it was close enough I would go with the cheaper nose piece.

But since they're not similar enough I'l either have to bite it and pay up or try and fix what I have.

I bought a 73+ nose panel from W & N a few years back when they were on offer for around Euro180. Shipping to Texas was Euro 300.

Still a lot cheaper than I could get a Euro 73+ front nose panel in the US though.

The exchange rate was a lot kinder then too.
