I am in the process of putting my 02 back together. actually it is back together and now I am just waiting to fix the clutch. My master cylinder was leaking, and I could not get it to build up pressure and blead. So I took it apart , the inside bore is very clean with no pitting . I baught a rebuild kit for the master cylinder. I do not have a book and I would like to see a diagram of it so I know it is being assembled correctly. Does any have one or know where I can find one on the net. Any help would be great-- this is the only thing left and I really want to get it done. thanks

I have a diagram out of the manual, but cannot work out how to "paste" it here.

If you e-mail me (lescartwright at juno.com) i'll e-mail to you by reply (if you have Adobe reader I can e-mail the whole section on Clutch)

Is this the only design they used. I have to take mine apart again but if I remember corectly the two cup seals in mine were a little different, this is what worrys me, the one in the kit for the front fits in a grove the other cup seal in the kit, the back one, is solid, but the one in mine was like the front one had a whole in the center annd fit in a grove on the cylinder. Did they change the design , is that why it is different , or is my car not moving for another week.

It may depend on the year of your '02.

According to realoem.com, there were two types of clutch master cyl (3 if you include RHD!).

One up to VIN 1665200 and one from VIN 1665201. This change was in 1969 - the manual page I sent you is dated '70, so I assume it details the later style one.

Not much help but it's all I have.

I think i Figured out the problem, I looked up the rebuild kit for a 69 2002 and the picture looks the same as the parts that came out of mine. I have a 76, so Im assuming that one of the PO put in a master cylinder from a 69. That is why the rubber parts are not the same. At least I know why, but that stiil does not get it on the road. thanks--I think that I am going to just order a new master cylinder, should have just done that in the first place.
