I'm in the middle of using the por15 fuel tank repair kit and I thought I'd post a couple of before shots while I wait to flip the tank. While I was out getting supplies I also picked up some paint to finish it off once it's sealed up.

I didn't know 3/4 of the sealer would drain back into the can after I was finished. I thought it would take at least half. Bummer is, then I found some holes :(

Rob,

My arms are fine now but I'm sure I'll feell a little sore in the morning.

Craig,

Thanks for the heads up on how much will pour out, I had no idea what to expect. Too bad about finding some holes after you went through all that. Luckily I pressure tested the tank before I started anything and found none.

Now I get to go put my goodwill hair dryer to good use.

IMHO. If you're doing a full bore resto with a fresh motor, new BMW tanks don't cost a whole heck of alot. Especially with issues of the seams rusting thru and all the crud in there potentially making it to the fuel system.

I'm just doing this because I had the tank out of the car. There was a little crud in the fuel filter when I got the car so I thought it was a good idea to drain it and check for anything. Other than a little varnishing and light scaling, it was fine. So since this is just going back in I thought I'd try the por15 kit out to see how it works. As far as the results go I'm happy so far and will find out next weekend (after it cures), if all is well.
