My gas pedal or my throttle is intermittently sticking on my '72 tii. When I clutch and idle at stops it will "stick" at around 1200 rpm. Then sometimes it does not.

Anybody know one or two common (hopefully easily fixed) reasons this occurs?

Thanks.

Mine was from the nut on the weber that attaches to the throttle linkage. It was to tight and binded the weber. I would clean the weber and it would work for a bit and then bind again. Other things to check are the pedal box, making sure it is clean and lubricate everything in there. The white fitting on the end of the throttle linkage behind the gas pedal is there and not broken is something else to take a look at.

I'm having the same problem but mine sticks right off the start from idle position. To isolate where it is coming from disconnect the linkage from the carb and see if the carb linkage alone is smooth... that is how I found my carb was doing the sticking... my prob is that I can't figure out why it's sticking... i tighten the nut and it sticks... I loosen the nut and it sticks... I take the nut off and it is fine. and it's a pretty new carb... so it shouldn't be the throttle plates. good luck on yours

Only hand tighten the nuts, that was my exact problem with the sticking. I hand tightened the nuts at either end of the throttle spline (I think that is what it is called, the rod that goes through the middle of the carb that the throttle plates are attached to). There is a washer that sits behind those nuts that have a small tab that folds over the hand tightened nut. to hold it in place and keeps it from loosening up.
