gear ratios for a 265 trans big six version out of euro 635

anybody know where to view the numbers

Is it a close ratio (dogleg/1st gear down to left) or regular pattern Getrag 265?

The regular Getrag 265 ratios are 3.38, 2.20, 1.40, 1.00, 0.81.

The C/R Getrag 265 ratios are 3.717, 2.404, 1.766, 1.264, 1.000.

I'm not certain the C/R big six gearboxes were doglegs. Doesn't the M635 have a C/R gearbox?

My e28 528i has a CR tranny and it is a dogleg. It is a Getrag 260 and not a 265. If I am not mistaken all the big six cr's were of the 260 variety (the 260 is the earlier style transmission with the removeable bellhousing and came in both OD and CR). These are pretty stout transmissions but are not as strong as the one piece 265's.

DAK you have the numbers backwards. The 265s have the separate bellhousings, came in CR or OD, and are much stronger than the 260s. The 260s were redesigned in 1985 and BMW actually went "back" to the 265s on the big sixes for 1985 only. Then when they built the E30 M3s, they chose the 265s again.
