engine and drivetrain how much transmission tunnel "adjusting" is necess

How much pounding, ahem..."modifications" are necessary to adapt the m3 tranny into the '02 well? The m3 tranny sits taller and wider right?

Also Nick Vyse's M2 page has a few photo's of cars under the gallery section that show the amount cut out of the transmissions tunnel.

I'll be finding out for myself shortly with an auto matic bodied car so we'll see how it goes.

you have to cut the top of the tunnel off in order for it to fit . the stock o2 transmission mount also have to be removed they don't line up anyway

If you already have a 5 speed conversion with a 1980 320i tranny (245 getrag), will the 265 tranny mount up with no further adjustments to the mounts?

Totally different mounting. The M3 tranny has a pod on each side. You could put two rubber mounts from an e12. They are square and much stiffer than e21.
