A very lean mixture may tend to cause warmer engine temps. Your question neglects to mention what you ran prior to the 32/36 or any other changes you may have made.

It previously had the Origional Single Barrel Solex. No other changes to the engine have been made baring electronic ignition and this was before the carb was changed, I dont think Im particularly Lean as the exaust is fairly sooty and the carb is set up as per CD's recomendations.

Mine was running hot a few weeks back, its winter here so I didnt mine the extra heat, but i found the timing was way off. I fixed the timing, reset the best lean idle (as per link) and the temp has stayed at 3 o'clock (not 2-2.30). Beaner7102

Ended up direct grounding the gauge's, and the temp is half no more and its as warm/humid as it gets over here now, Should have done it first!, I had to do the headgasket last month due to it leaking coolant so I was a bit on the paranoid side, replaced the Rad with a E21/E30 one, + the Thermostat and Water pump (There was a little play in it and the hone on the top was weeping very slightly) Guess I wont have to near the cooling system for some time!(Fingers Crossed!)
