The 72 hasn't been under way for 3.5 yrs. It has been in the garage, not covered. The hood has been stored separately in approx the same conditions. Pulled the hood out to wash the accumulated grime and was kinda surprised that it didn't want to come clean. Floated off what would come easily with the hose. Used Zymol cleaner (The Golf paint is fresh prior to storage, and was very well Zymolled prior to being put up) gently, with a soft cloth with frequent rinsing in clean water most of the dirt is gone. I'm thinking Griot's Clay bar from here, and out to fresh wax. Given that the hood was stored vertically and is hard to clean I am real concerned with the horiz surfaces of the car. Comments/suggestions (other than don't store the car for so long) much appreciated. I think a power washer would act like a grinder here with the grit being the grinding compound. Correct?

Use a power washer to get all the heavy stuff off. Then from there get a wash mit you don't care about and get the rest off. From there do whatever you like to try to make the paint look new again.

speed costs money how fast do you want to go
