It moves in cycles, as cars get to the point be being offically recognised as classic cars - ie 30 years old in my state - they seem to go up in price... price of restoration is another huge factor - if the car presents as free of rust, free of dents, solid paint etc. it will fetch more than a basket case.

If you want get good money, make sure you clean the car up - a few hours with a scrubbing brush and soapy water in teh engine bay wont hurt if the car presents better. Give it a good wax, wash and polish as well - flat paint gets flat price.

A running car is always worth more than a broken down one, a test drive is normally a good measure of a cars condition - if it is not running, it is nothing more than a bunch of parts.

Good lcuk with the sale - I had never seen pics of it, but the wheels look nice.

Generally, 2002 values are steadily rising.

Since purchase of my '73tii in early 2001, I periodically check the NADA Classic Car Price Guide and the Manheim Gold Book Value Guide.

A "Show Quality" '73tii is currently valued at $17,000. according to Manheim.

The NADA Price Guide is valued at $13,750 for "Excellent" -- or about double the value from 2001.

Much of these "values" depend on recorded dealer sales, auctions and title transfers, so the numbers reflect national averages and may not amount to a hill of beans in evaluating a particular car.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, BMW AG turned its back on the lowly sedan that put the company on the map in the 1960s and 70s. Recently, however, the factory has embraced the 2002, proclaiming it to be the seminal high performance sedan and parent to every three series since 1977.

I hope that helps...
