Hello all - Feel free to take a peek at the first (rainy) photos of my new ride.

(a friend of mine let me use his site to host these)

http://www.martinvallee.com/bmw2002/

It will eventually look very different and I'm looking forward to getting some help... I'll need a lot of it. Looking to change it to a turbo and man 5-speed. Body work too. Let the fun begin.

wow, that is one clean NICE looking ORIGINAL 02. that's what i'd call a survivor. ya sure you want to alter the looks of it??? that is, assuming it sports its original paint and isn't a rust bucket.

from my vantage point it's a nice car. best wishes to you, whatever direction you take.

Its not the original color - recently got painted by previous owner.

This car is as rust free as it can possibly get. I mean, it was a chore just to find anything wrong with it (other than the fact that its an automatic)

I'm tripping right now - so much potential. I definitely want to lose the american standards bumper and extend a skirt, very minimal. But not until I drop a restored turbo engine in there. I shopped Tii's and Turbos and it made sense to jump on this standard 02 I tweek it myself, I thought. I'm not a die hard collector, but at the same time I wont compromise too much of its integrity... I dunno, I have a lot to learn but I know where I want to end up with it.

You gotta a lot of space with that auto-tranny tunnel. You could easily fit an M3 trans in there, not to mention the S14 itself.

really, S14 would fit? Wow.

Has anyone done this before?

oh yeah, the S14 is one of the more common engine upgrades (along with M10) that people do with 02s. do a quick forum archive search and you'll find out a lot :)

enjoy!

Currently 02-less.

Man, you guys are ruthless!

The poor man JUST came on board and you are sending him down the S14 road. Somethings may be considered slipery slopes. The S14 conversion is more like a slip and slide! Woohoo!

Welcome aboard.

Do bunches of research and try to plan your attack of what you want the car to be. Ask questions here. As you are probably finding out a lot of it has been done before. Learn from our mistakes.

Looking at ALL options. Just very exciteable right now, feel free to throw anything at me it'll just force my hand to learn what I need to learn.

My plan is a 5 year plan and my immediate wishes, at least for the short north-east summer, is to drive this car every chance I get.

In late fall, gonna drive it up to Canada where it will stay at my brothers in a heated garage, and I will have to winter to ponder my next move...

thanks all for your feedback.

Grrr... What's wrong with automatics!? Karl is an automatic and I have to admit, he's beaten his fair share of V8 six speed turbo bullshits. I'll assume from now on when people make fun of little 3 speed autos, you're talking about all OTHER 02ers and not Karl!

Welcome to the forum nonetheless :)

Welcome to the forums mate! The best thing you can do with an Auto is lose it! The best people have :-P An S14 would be nice, yield more power and better drivablity than an original turbo motor.

I put it to you that unless Karl haas a high stall kit and 300rwhp, the people you were "racing" in "V8 6 speed turbo bullshits" had absolutely no idea of your racing intent.
