Feeling no control in the rear?

Depending on what you are thinking about, either check with your doctor or replace the old worn out shocks.

I had suspected for a while my shocks weren't working all that great. Finally tonight I had some time to unbolt them. To my surprise when I compressed them, they stayed down. And they practically fell down themselves.

So I bolted up the used Bilstein HDs I had and checked the bounciness of the car, much harder to push down now but not as stiff as Keith's Stella. The good part is that it wants to stop bouncing rather than keep on going.

If I hadn't decided to test my orbital sander I got for Christmas I would have taken it out around the block, but its raining. Bare metal and rain don't mix.

mine were shot in a similar manner on my project car. i drove it for a few months before installing the used billies i had. only one of them was really shot, but they weren't absorbing anything.

the front right was just as bad...the main cause of the car's tendency to pull to the right intermittently i believe.

Anybody know where I can get the rubber bushing that goes in the shock tower? I installed a new set on rears, now that car is being parted. I destroyed the bushings trying to remove them.

Thanks,

bushings...I'll bet your friendly Midas store could match you up some.

After the lower mount bushings on my De Carbon shocks died (the shocks are fine after 138k, but not the bushings) I made new ones from short lengths of A/C high pressure hose. Work great!

the guy told me that any retailer should be able to get me the bushings, but most won't take the time, so they will sell directly to me. Great company. No wonder we all like them.

and non- gas pressurised shocks won't necessarily pop back up.

Now, if they have little or no resistance to movement, THAT'S a problem.

Shocks that are supposed to pre pressurised may work ok once they lose their nitrogen- or they may fail completely, as some valve bodies need the pressure...

fwiw.
