Nardi Wheel Wheel Install - Follow-Up

Recommended Posts

As requested by a few of you, I am posting a pic of the Nardi Steering Wheel I installed on Hugo today. As it is with most og my projects, this one wasn't that easy. The only problem I had was with the Luisi Hub...it sat too low and rubbed the steering coulmn pad, so I went to Lowe's and bought an assortment of washers, and after a couple hours futzing around and honing out the I.D. of two lock washers (which was a real pain until I used the right tool), I finally got it to fit proper.

Of course as it is with most after market hubs there is no turn indicator cancel stud, so I will need to turn off the turn signal after turns, but my Momo was the same way.

I'm very pleased with the look...the chrome spokes tie-in nicely with the chrome on the stock '72 seats.

If anyone needs any assistance with the install, feel free to e-mail me. There were a couple minor tips I can offer to make your install easier than mine was.

Happy Memorial day...tomorrow I DRIVE!!!!!!!!! :-)

That's because the signal cancelling thing is a stamped steel piece that presses on the end of the steering shaft.

You have to reuse the factory turn signal canceler. Neither the MOMO or Nardi hubs have a canceller as it is a separate part in the column assembly. I've been a wholesale distributor for MOMO and Nardi products for over 12 years and that has always been the situation.

I got a Nardi wheel on my '02 and a hub for an E9. the only problem was getting the horn contacts to work. I haven't taken it apart to see how a friend fixed it for me. Parts from a 320i were used. Pics when I get back to CA.

The only problem with the E9 hub is that the canceller for (I forget which side) only works once the car has completely returned to its original position.

Dude, I need to get you the hub for the '02. The e9,e3 and e21 hub are a diffrent part number. E-mail me if you want to get the proper one. Did you save the original turn signal canceller(part#32321118825)?

Hey CJ... can you hook me up with a hub and a nice classic looking Momo? Like one of those ones that some of the 02faq guys have - cant think of what they are called... they have 3 spokes, with three holes on each spoke. Momo remade them after Porsche and BMW owners asked for them...

Let me know if you can get them and how much and I will let you know if I can afford it :-P

Maybe the steering columns are different when they went to left hand signal switches in '74...because my '76 definitely has a cancel tab on the steering wheel. Maybe the pre-'74 steering columns have a mechanism that cancels it??? Anyone with an original bus steering wheel have a tab on it? My guess is "no".
