They are painting it in Verona with Glasurit paint. I wish that I was doing more of the work myself, but it is awfully far away and I am pretty much working all the time.

The paint is finally going down! It took along time for Matt to get the quarter panels perfect and they have been super busy, but he painted the engine bay Friday. The rest of the car should be painted this week. I will also try and get some photos of the Eurofest online this week.

After the McGinn's finish with it the car is going to Kermit Upton at Mountain Auto Sport in Vermont. He is putting in a 2.5 L, s14 engine and a Getrag 265 tranny and then I'll get her back.

Where did you find Kermit? Just wondering.... He's got a great reputation and has a long racing resume so he's a wonderful choice - however not too many people talk about him on the FAQ...

Sorry I have not posted in awhile, but I have been getting slammed at work. Todd, I will get some pics of the Eurofest car posted as soon as I find my flash drive to transfer them to my MAc. I can't figure out how to make the files smaller on a PC with no real imaging software.

I actually first heard about Kermit years ago reading about Coop's car. After buying back my Dad's car I looked into a lot of people to do the conversion adn people had consistently positive things to say about the McGinns and Kermit.

The car has it's suspension, brakes, and wheels back on. Matt says the body will be done by Jan. 21 so I am going to Connectiucut to check it out before bringing it up to Kermit. Check out the latest pics:

Here are some pics form the mid restoration. Yes they are all the same car

Sorry about the delay, but here are a few pics of the eurofest car when I pickerd it up. There is a pic of the folks from BMW, Boys Home of the South, and The Red Cross handing the title over to me and a few of the car itself. It was super fun going to pick it up and I visited with some good friends in South Carolina. The car is now holed up in my garage waiting out the midwest winter.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
