Fuse 11 update and continuing saga

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the good tips guys.

I spent a day trying things.

Put my old mechanical fuel pump on.

No vacuum...hmmm probably why I changed it 20 years ago.

Bought a $30 generic pump and insalled it in the trunk.

It worked fine, fuse now blowing instantly.

I was chastized by by brother for not trouble shooting before doing all this.

Fuse diasgnotistic tip.

I took the fuse box off the fender, it is only one little screw and it

just lifts up to see all the wires.

I unplugged the other two wires to fuse 11 and started the car.

Electric fuel pump worked fine.

I plugged one of the wires back into fuse 11 and it did not blow.

I plugged the third wire in and the fuse blew.

Unhooked that wire and drove about 4 miles home.

I haven't had time to look in the book at where that wire goes, but as far as I can tell everything on fuse 11 is working.

More mystery when I get the time.

Please note that I turned car off and unhooked battery ground cable before every item above.

same terminal? If so, one of those is the instruments and the other is that #@%&** seat belt warning light sensor wire I mentioned yesterday. Check your wiring diagram and snip the wire that isn't in it--or call me at home this evening and I'll look up the reference.

cheers

I found a wire that was bare from rubbing underneath the air filter housing. This must be the automatic choke wire. I had it tied back on the brake vacuum assist hose under the housing.

I cleaned that up and now no more fuses blowing.
