Well I sent my entry in.... so it’s official. First race of the season. It’s in 7 days so it’s probably time to dust off the race car and give it some attention this weekend. No budget for new tires so let’s see how long I can push these my season old Toyo’s..... .... ?????

Race is in 4 days.... I guess it’s time to try to “prep” this thing. ....

Putting the other diff back in, I think it was actually a better(faster) ratio. So out comes the locked 4:10 and in goes the LSD..... SO how long you think it will take me? Any guesses?

Well 3:54mins with a toddler interruption by myself is not bad. I wanted to time it in case I need to do this at the track in the future. I think if I had someone helping me I could of done it in half the time.... that said I spent the following 2 hours checking for loose bolts, doing some odds and ends putting my practice tires on and firing up the car for the first time in 4 months.... after a few attempts she roared to life once again and sounded ready to fight! Anticipation is starting to build now... ?

My sad race weekend in 3 photos. Started with a perfect sunny CA spring day.... found a nice parking spot at the track... and went out for a 3 laps... when I came in I was hearing a loud Clanking sound coming from the clutch.... that went away when I disengaged the clutch.... so I called it. Decided to head back to Mac’s Performance and see if it was worth fixing.... could possibly be a another issue that is motor related. Either way it was a DNS from me this weekend. Very much bummed out because I missed the new double header race format that I asked for last year.... anyway.... sometimes it never ends, sometimes I wanna just sell the stupid thing and go get a Miata or an e36 so I can actually turn laps instead of work on the dumb thing all the time. ?????

I wonder if I’ll have a chance this year to add to my collection ... still missing that elusive 1st place.... #notlikely #maybeifeveryonecrashes ? ???

Looks like next 2 race weekends getting cancelled by coronavirus...... that and the financial ruin of many of us small business owners might put my race season in jeopardy and many others.....

.... 2020 just keeps on giving.... ? ? Unfortunately assuming our Governor doesn’t extend the stay at home order and make the race on the 15th illegal thus shutting it down..... there is no way I’ll be able to make it. Looks like lots people are signing up and I’d love to be there with them but due to the issue at the Friday practice a few months ago, looks like I won’t be. It wasn’t my clutch like I wanted to believe... it went deeper than that. Luckily I pulled in after things didn’t feel right and avoided further serious drama. Still now we get to put her back together the right way which means I’m waiting on parts for a few weeks. Hopefully we can put her back together in time for Ocktoberfest... which would be the next race. Such an odd schedule Vara put together this year with a 5 month break in the middle of the year..... it’s pretty much like our “off season” and now with this covid situation knocking out 1 maybe 2 of the races.... looks like my season this year will be only 2 races... October and November season finale race. Ow well..... at least I have lots of time to do this.... no need to rush.... wish me luck. ?

I’m sad to have to do this.... but I need to fund my engine build, and so my pride and joy of a rim that took me years to find is going up for sale. Real RONAL Racing 3pc. Rims!! They were hand picked and beautifully restored for me in Austria. Had them shipped over to sunny California. Was a full restoration and inspection as I was racing with them. They are super lightweight coming in at 8.9lbs. !! Real Magnesium centers, beautifully polished lips and white powder coated centers. All new hardware of course. I put them on my car a total of 5 times. 5 events and I only used them on Saturdays which means they are basically as MINT as they could be. Also included are new old stock Real RONAL center caps. They are 13x6.5 and 4x100 pattern and et17 (I was told, I never measured) they fit under my turbo flares just fine. This is your opportunity to own true European masterpiece of a rim. Lightweight and gorgeous. I have only seen 1 other 2002 in the USA with them before. Stand out from the crowd and reduce your unsprung weight. Asking $2600.00 for the set of 4. Willing to ship anywhere in the world. PayPal and many other forms of payment accepted. Any questions DM me! Can’t wait to see these kill it on someone else’s ride.

Weekend covid project!

My alternate rear differential (locked 4:10) was sandblasted bare and starting to rust... why not go for the Schnitzer gold again?!

It’s a fast color I’m sure of it! Anyways looks clean now, ready to store and swap in when I feel I need it again.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
