There is no gas in the fuel lines. The car has been sitting with no gas. I have tried putting gas in the carb and pumping pedal. Tried to start it by putting gas in the carb, but it won`nt prime. There is no gas in the fuel filter. The fuel pump worked before it ran out of gas.

Thanks for any help.

the air cleaner top and you'll see a brass pipe poking up thru a rubber grommet in the air cleaner's base. That's the float chamber vent. Pour a little gas down that vent (less than a shot glass full), pump the accelerator pedal a couple of times and it should start right up.

With a 2 bbl Weber or Solex, try some starting ether squirted down the carb throats with the butterflies wide open. Might take a couple of tries as the fuel pump has to pull gas the length of the car, but it should start and run on its own.

cheers

Pouring gas in the carb should atleast get it to fire, but I've had times when my fuel pump was weak and it'd fire but not successfully purge all of the air out of the fuel line, and the car died. To help it out, I used a priming bulb like you'd use for an outboard motor, and patched it in-line....

That got most of the air out of the line, and I removed it later.
