Congrats, Pat! i had been watching that auction but couldn't bring myself up to bid.

From what I've heard, it uses Bavaria headlight buckets.

Pat:

I bet after you get those, you can have them reproduced at a plastics manufacturer and sell them for some nice $$$. I for one don't like them, but I know they would be a hot seller.

Congrats!

Looks like those need four 7" lamps, so rule out the smaller E21 and E30 quad assemblies.

Might have to find another set of 2002 buckets and fab some mounting brackets or something...

$110 is a good price. Over here they would go for double.

You can use Bavaria 5 1/4" lights/brackets or E21 (maybe E30?). As you have to cut out part of the existing '02 light support and make up brackets you could probably use any 5 1'4" double headlight assy.

A couple of years ago I sold my pre '74 double grills for $250 and paid about the same for some '74-'76 double grills, that will eventually be fitted to the "Sleeping Project".

I paid 400 bucks a pop for 2 sets with buckets here stateside. The late and early ones are different . I think the late ones I have mounted use Bavaria buckets or 5 er buckets. I have yet to mount the early ones. You have to cut the metal pieces that are about half way acroos the grill area to get them to fit. I still may mount the early ones on my M2.

Nice buy, a set went for $237AU over here so you did well. As for the buckets, i was told the way to go was with the assemblies from an e3.

Nice score! Very good price.

Here is a link to a thread from a while ago about the 4 headlight conversion:

Here is a a photo of my new front grilles and the buckets. The buckets are used. They are very similar to E21 units. I'm not sure about the Bavaria ones as I have never seen any. I am sure both can be made to work. I paid 210.00 Euro for my grilles.

If you keep an eye on ebay in Germany, you should eventually be able to find a pair of the correct new buckets if you wanted.
