I just received my new carpet set from SeamsPerfect and wanted to find out if others who have installed new carpet sets added carpet padding? If so, any recommendations would be appreciated (i.e., type, thickness, etc.).

Ask Esty ;)

lol...no balls huh?

about the carpet pad....all carpet i've ever bought came with the padding....since i've never installed any of larsons rugs i don't know what he does or what he furnishes..

if it was my predicament....i'd go to home depot and but some carpet pad and lay it under the parts i wanted padded

I used the seamsperfect carpet kit and was sorta bummed it didn't come with padding. At the time it stated that it did on the website, not sure if it still does though.

The traditional padding material is "jute", but I had a hard time finding it. So I went to home depot and got the heaviest stuff I could (it's pink and sort of a "paritcle foam") and used that. If you have the time, remove that old tar from the floor (dry ice is magic) and lay down some fatmat, it really does make the cabin quieter. Good time to check for and repair any rust in the floors as well.

Thanks for the quick replies. I already removed all the old tar crap that was in the car and replaced it with Dynamat. I will definitely go to Home Depot and purchase some padding for specific areas.

I used dynamat under the carpets from Al. 4 cars, 4 perfect fits. 1600 cab carpet had to be custom made becasue of the additional metal on the inside of the car.

Esty, keep talking if you want, but PLEASE stop calling them rugs like they are someone else's hair pieces. We're talking about carpets here.

Oh please, if you can't take a joke by now . . .

And I dunno if the "username" input would allow enough space for all the people's names that probably share that sentiment. How about I rename it "The Collective Masses." Still too general for you?

Okay, all jokes aside. Esty, I've probably pulled up your blog a half dozen times. The basic crap about World Upholstery is always there, but why does it fluctuate with the arguable nasty stuff about Larson? Sometimes it's there, then it gets pulled, then new stuff shows up - any insights?

Inquiring minds want to know, but are too lazy to log in. :)

everything thats there right this minute is the same thing that's been there from the beginning, less additional stuff i add along the way....nothing chang'd except i did some editing to get the negative about larson off the top....the purpose isn't to slam larson anymore than it is to share my experiences about all the vendors i mention....unless you were there @ the exact time i was editing, you shoulda read or at least scroll'd the entire page....then you would've known the same stuff was there, just in a different spot on the page

unless you've got your head up your ass or hung up on having a lizard embroidered on the breast of you pocketless pullover, you'll realize there's some useful and beneficial information there for new guys or gals that wouldn't know where to get aftermarket carpet or wouldn't realize some of the good and or bad points about dealing with particular vendors until they sent money....or placed an order

and...you stated the "arguable, nasty stuff" about larson.....dude, everything nasty there came from the lips of larson....so give me a break....you've never seen me slam larson or be rude to him....but if i did, i have the balls to sign my name

and it's still chicken shit of you and anyone else to not use the name we all recognize if you have anything negative to say to or about anyone else....the too lazy to log in is crap & an an excuse for not having the guts to use your name....unless you flush your browser everytime you leave the forum, you'll stay log'd in......

& :) back@ya

For someone who repeatedly (and I think generally accurately) posted about how she doesn't take offense and doesn't get into the name-calling, I am surprised at your last post. I really can't see how that, in any way shape or form, could be intended to be "helpful" to a new 02 owner. Its just the same nastiness that you accuse everyone else of (whether they were or not is unimportant, because you hold yourself above the fray).

Before you get your panties bunched up any more than they already are, I wasn't suggesting that YOU were the author of the "arguable nasty stuff" about Larson.

As for hiding behind FAQ usernames - Esty is your real name? Well hell, let's all put our full names, addresses, and SSN on here so we can really know who is who. Who cares - my silly tag is just as known or anonymous as the next fellow. Get over it.
