Removed the front strut to replace the spring and insert. Can't get the top lock-nut off the top. The top strut arm just spins when i try to turn the lock-nut. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try breaking the nut free while it's still mounted in the car (but not all the way off), if you don't give a crap about the old insert, throw some vise grips on it. Either way, you can get more leverage on it while it's still mounted.

Also make sure you have the spring compressor on tight, I've seen springs imbedded in walls from flying across the garage, not pretty.

yeah, thats why you loosen it before taking things apart.

but now that its apart, an impact wrench could get it off real quick, with no need for reassembling things.
