prior to 1 Jan 69 (sorry!). Your car would have had a long nect diff, two speed heater blower, wide front seat backs etc. Changeover to the second series '69s was at 1664761. My car (1664801) was assembled on 4 Feb 69 and was the 40th second series USA car built...so it appears no--or few--US spec cars were built in January at all. I was able to examine 1664803 before it was parted out--it was a sunroof car like mine, so this tends to confirm that US spec cars--and sunroof cars-- were built in batches (due to differences from Euro-spec and non-sunroof cars) on the regular 2002 assembly lines.

If you send your VIN in to MT, they can tell you the exact assembly date for your car. I would suspect Nov or Dec of 68. Most of the 1968 model year cars I've seen have the date "1968" stamped on the underhood VIN plate...but not the '69s.

cheers

I have the 75th of the Second Series.

However, when I had Rob Torres of 2002 Ahus re-do her clutch, We learned that the 1st 400 or so 2nd Series cars had 1st series 3-finger clutches. Furthermore, I am missing some reflectors frun under the 2002 and on the other side.

My car has a Feb 7, 1969 "birth date". However, all the parts on the car were made in January 1969.

My VIN is: 1664835

Hope this helps.

My car, a second series 69 also had a 3 finger clutch and 6 bolt flywheel and a short neck diff. However, my motor vin is not the same as the car. Strange, because I have a lot of records for the car but no mention of a motor swap. Sorry, I can't remember my vin off hand. 166 something. It's on Less's spread sheet.

contact Mobile Tradition via email. They can give you the importer, the build date, the original color, and sometimes the original dealer the car went to.

Lemme dig through my hotmail for the address.

Yes, sir. But, you might want to include in the email a little more than ONLY a VIN. ;-]
