In the latest issue of P BMW there is a '72 Inka Orange 02 on the cover.

The guy has put in a M20 motor and then added a turbo to produce 270hp at the crank. He is beating e46 M3 and e39 M5 at the strip turning 13:45 1/4 miles. I'll see if I can get it scanned in sometime today.

I beat twin turbo 911s even on fast racetracks with my 160HP 2002. As CD mentionned, forget the motor, concentrate on the driver, the suspension, the brakes.

Brake harder. Go faster.

My post was not to imply anything other than what the article stated. I am well aware of the importance of a driver in the car. I merely wanted to share in the event that others might enjoy the article and pictures. I'm also aware that we do not drag these cars; however it is still an impressive feat.

Sorry you're getting beat up a little. That car belongs to Curtis and he posts here pretty regularly. There was some talk about this mag a few weeks ago but it wasn't really avaliable then. Thanks for letting us know, I guess it's finally on the shelves so I'll be picking up a copy soon!

Bigger is better, it's the American way. Who else would put a V8 in a small euro body....thanks Carol Shelby...Stock is good, but I'm not sure how 'cool' it is. Cool is bigger, better and faster...Rock and Roll baby, it's the American Way & I think the orange turbo is super cool.

That'd be my car and I DO track it, done laps on Sebring and Gainesville raceway here in central florida and always looking for more. The 1/4 mile time was just to see what it would run. I got enough grief at the track for having a car that would outhandle anything there and even wanting to run it down the track; until they saw under the hood. I just ran it for a number to throw in the magazine and that's that. The car is built to be the ultimate street machine, has coilovers, all urethane, Bilsteins, big brakes and I like to think a driver that can make the car do anything he wants. I def. gained respect at Sebring from a bunch of fast cars knowing that I only had the 170hp out of the M20. The extra 100hp more really makes it a screamer and boost comes in very linear. It's still a very trackable car and I will show that soon enough. Thanks for the good words from a few of you and for those of you bashing that there was a 1/4 mile listed, know that the car is much much more than a drag car and the driver HATES going in a straight line.

Hey, Curtis!

Thought I read a while ago that you were thinking of selling the car. Glad you decided to keep it!

Still hoping I can get a ride in it next time I go to Orlando.....

Best,

Harry

Curtis, thanks for slaming the door on that. I didn't mean to misrepresent your ride by posting the 1/4 but like I said thats impressive. That is one hell of a 02 and maybe it's just me, but I automatically assumed you had the car very trackable; I mean it is an 02, just happens to be a very fast 02.
