I have several early gauge clusters with the chrome trim and was wondering if anyone has tried to restore any of these. I did one with some "chrome" paint from a hobby shop but it came out more silver. I have seen a chrome paint advertised in Eastwood but I am afraid it will look the same. Any suggestions on paints to match the original look? Also what type of paint should I use for the black areas? Was this originally gloss or semi gloss?

David,

You might want to look here; www.bare-metal.com

It is the "silver leaf" that modelers use and that was referred to in the earlier post.

I have not used it, though I was wondering if it might be acceptable in "restoring" the Mylar on '02 door panels.

Best wishes in your R&R on the dash pod.

Be sure to post pics and give an update here on what you did.

Regards,

Randy

I just finished using the bare metal foil. My local hobby shop had it. The finish looks good, although this being my first attempt I got a few wrinkles. I'll post pictures later.
