We are moving to Utah in June. I will not have room to store an extra car, nor would I want to drive it in the winter. This is a very sad decision for me to make, but I am thinking of replacing it with a 2003 Subaru WRX. I think I will prep it for sale and have a for sale sign on it at the upcoming Bay Area 02 Swap and Show in Palo Alto.

It's a pretty car, I'd be curious to see what she'd bring at a car show. Sometimes when life changes you have to change too, prices on 2002s are going up, but what can you do if you have to sell it. You might get good money for it, as it looks like a clean tii, in a nice color. Good luck, either way.

Condolences Karl! Hurts like hell I know!

Sad to see you go too!

Actually, Salt Lake City can be really hard on cars. There's a reason they call it the Great Salt Lake. ;)

What's the serial number on your tii you're thinking of selling? Maybe it would be happier running around the mountains of southwestern Colorado! :)

To hell with Colorado, she'd be much happier with a change of scenery to Florida

Sorry, Florida is worse for rust than Salt Lake City. And alligators might start chewing on the tires. 2002's need winding roads up and down the mountains to be happy. Don't you want this car to be happy? ;]

I know they don't salt the roads. It still wouldn't make a good winter car, and like I said, I don't have room for an extra (already have a ski boat to find room for). We are moving to Sandy.

My twin brother bought a '75 2002 from a guy in Salt Lake City, and rust was definitely a problem with that car. Maybe all the salt laden water evaporating from the Great Salt Lake precipitates out in the rainfall, like living near the ocean? They don't salt the roads around here either, but the magnesium chloride they spray on the roads in the fall to aid ice removal in the winter is more corrosive than road salt. My tii was reasonably rust-free until the advent of magnesium chloride. :(

You'll be back.

They ALWAYS come back.

You'll sell it and move on to something else. Then every Spring you will be getting that itch. You'll see an 02 on the road and nearly break your neck for a glimpse. You'll be thinking about how you miss your 02 and how you never should have sold it.

There is a nice drive up to Jackson/Yellowstone from Sandy. In the early spring before the tourists hit it would be a blast to do in an 02. We had a rental Honda :^(

BTW, a pretty good teppan style Japanese restaurant there in Sandy. They guys get a little wild.

Sell the 318 instead and buy the WRX? May not be feasible and rust may indeed be a concern. Just wondering...

Try to keep the tii if you can! The Subaru will feel big and clunky in comparison. I only drive my WRX if I want a/c or a radio or cruise control or when in snows or to haul kids and crap... ok, I drive it most of the time. But I don't enjoy it as much as an 02.

BTW, I've always liked the look of your tii. Must be the schwartz! Wanna trade it for an '02 WRX wagon? he he Naw... I'd better not.

Good luck!
