Is it a royal PITA to change the diff hanger mounts?

I was reading a post about replacing them and wondering. Mine are SHOT badly and I have a LSD transplant in the future but not for a few months. Would it be easier to do this when I drop the whole rear subframe or can it be done relativly pain-free in the driveway.

Also urethane or Delrin/solid rear mounts. How much noise/vibration really transfers into the cabin with solid diffy mounts?

TIA

Should take all of 20 minutes including washing your hands when done.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

yeah how do you do it? does the hanger just bolt to the shell? So you'd unbolt a few bolts and it will come undone like an exhaust hanger but more beefy?

also does anyone know exactly how much noise/vibration transfers into the car when you upgrade to solid diff mounts?

I'm still not seeing the 20 minutes thing but I'll buy into it if someone can explain

TIA

once you know what you are doing.

Jack up the car with a floor jack by putting it under the diff, this keeps everything in place. Then unbolt the 17mm nuts holding the diff mount to the diff cover and then remove the 17mm nuts and bolt from the diff/body mount.

Take the diff hanger out and remove the bushings like already said.

But don't do it unless you can get the new ones in, or else you are stuck. I didn't have a press or bench vise and had to take it to an autoshop to press them in. Apparently soaking them in hot water makes them easier to work with. Or so I've been told.

I suggest using stock rubber bushings. Urethane has no advantage in this application, except *possibly* a longer life.

I want to do this but I also want to know if it will totally rattle my brains when I drive. I've already put urethane inserts into the subframe mounts so I want to really stiffen up the rear end.

Why does everyone suggest just normal rubber mounts?
