Well I posted in my 1/2 price junkyard day thread that I would try a different way of putting the injectors in a 320i intake mani for my megasquirt setup, didn't want it to be hard to find for folks searching at a later date so a new post was in order.

With an injector in hand and the mani I noticed there were some little plastic inserts in the mani for the CIS style injectors( second image ) they do fit the late style injector but you have to cut one plastic washer and the big o-ring off and add 2 tiny orings to get them to seal up. It seemed like it wouldn't leak anyway as the fit for the injector into the plastic insert was damn near perfect. I have a crapload of little o-rings laying around anyway.

I tried it in the mani again and with the two o-ring setup the injector needs a little pressure to be all the way down into the factory hole in the intake mani.

Next problem was seeing how much room I needed for the fuel rail so it doesn't run into the log part of the mani where the TB attatches. Well trying to get the log over the fuel rail wasn't going to happen with that brass pipe and the casting sprue sitting there on the bottom so off they both came. That left a big hole so I fired up the tig and welded that up and did the runners where all the original brackets and crap were hanging off. ( first image )

More to come in a few ( I think there is a 2 pic limit on attatchments )

After getting it set where I could actually see what was going on it didn't look like it would take much to relieve the fuel rail and just weld it back up, hell steel is a piece of cake after welding aluminum, so the rail get's worked over by the belt sander for a few with a check every once in a while and I end up with a cuved part cut out for the TB hump and a small notch for the TB lower mounting bolt. here it is all welded back up ( first image )

And a pic of it all together ( second image )

More coming in a sec.

I took this one so you could see how far the injectors poke out into the airflow, they are even with the inside of the injector port. Seems OK to me as the injectors in my Corrado are way back from the edge ( factory )

The rail now touches the TB bolt boss for just a hair of pressure to help hold it in place I'll cut a few tabs and weld them to the lower mani so mI can also use the factory tabs on the fuel rail.

Gotta work Tommorow so probably no update till Thursday. ( It's good working for yourself )

Any comments are greatly apreciated especially if you have something to add.

Looks good. That's almost how I did it. I used efi o-rings, drilled out the manifold and made bushings to fit the injectors. I think my injectors went a bit deeper because I managed to fit the fuel rail without notching it.

It's good if you have chance to weld aluminum mounts for fuel rail. I didn't so I made mounts that fit under manifold nuts.

The simpler solution is to remove the o-ring from the injector and use the K-jetronic o-ring (bigger) on the l-jetronic injectors.
