I thought I would follow up for the benefit of all the good advice I got from the FAQ when my Tii was reluctant to start when cold. I had already checked the operation of the warm up regulator, and the cold start injector seemed to be working when it was hot (always started real well when hot).

Turns out it was a matter of technique. Here is what was suggested to me, and it worked.

Let the fuel pump run for 10 seconds to build up pressure before engaging the starter. Hold the throttle half way open when engaging the starter. My enigne cranks for a couple of seconds and then fires right up on all cylinders using this method. As soon as it fires, I let off on the throttle. Probably all the other Tii owners know this cold start procedure.

Holding the throttle open when the engine is warm doesn't seem necessary on my car.

forget the 10 second thing. As you learn how your car sounds you will know when the fuel system is primed and ready based on the sound of the electric fuel pump. Just listen. Alex

ya thats what I do. Turn the key and listen to the pump. Usually a few seconds and it sounds right and start. Forgot about that.. its habit ;)

Leave the throttle closed. Wait a few seconds for the fuel pressure to build. Turn the key to start, and keep it there until the engine is firing smoothly. A tii takes a bit more cranking time than carb cars.

kinda slick tho isn't it!!

any better for getting the battery out? Man I HATE dealing with batteries in the tii.. its a pain in the arse with the fuel lines etc right there
