Hi, I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster (you know the sort)

I've got an old 1502, it's 29 years old now, so the front seats are way past it. Getting them retrimmed would cost more £££ than I can afford, so I wondered how tough it'd be to get some seats from an e30 to fit, as they're a lot more widespread than 02 parts.

Also, are there any other parts that can be taken from an old 3-series to an 02? I'd like to upgrade to discs on the back one day, before I start any work on the engine.

above, E21 Recaros are essentially a bolt in and 323 rear trailing arms & disc brakes can be adapted fairly easily; 5 speed overdrive transmissions are fairly easy to install (lots of info in the archives), rear drum brakes (same diameter as Turbo drums) are a bolt in (except for the e-brake cables - need turbo cables), for additional cooling, aluminum radiators and aux electric radiator pusher fans aren't too hard to make fit, iS sport steering wheels work with very minor adaption, limited slip diff's fit with minor work (lots of archive info on this swap as well).

if you find a good old e21 4 cylinder (so a 316, and maybe the 318?, ignore the 320i/323i's) you should be able to get quite a few bits off it.. most notibaly the 5-speed gearbox!!! flipside is that the lovely Recaros came on the higher spec'd models which i oddly told you to ignore for their mechanics..

so good luck finding that elusive bmw scrapyard with every model you need..
