MY PROJECT CAR WAS EQUIPPED WITH DEALER INSTALLED BEHR SYSTEM. I AM NOT SURE OF THE FUNCTIONAL STATUS OF ANY OF THE SYSTEM...BARN CAR NOT DRIVEN IN 16 YEARS. IS THERE A GOOD COMPLETE SYSTEM MADE TODAY FOR OUR CARS OR IS IT KIND OF A MIX AND MATCH SCENERIO WITH SALVAGED OLD PARTS AND NEW COMPRESSOR ETC. 2002 HAUS MENTIONED THAT THEY WERE DOING A SYSTEM,BUT HAVE HAD TROUBLE COMMUNICATING WITH THEM. LOCATED IN DALLAS/FORT WORTH AREA.

or Frigiking most commonly--have had pretty good luck with installing a rotary compressor to replace the York piston unit, and either converting to R134 or continuing with R12. A good local A/C shop (esp in Texas where you live) should be able to give you some good guidance on what needs to be changed out to update the system.

That being said, even a system in perfect condition isn't all that great in a 2002....certainly nothing like a modern car. I find my Frigiking is great on the highway--it'll drop the temperature in the cabin about 20 degrees. Around town it just doesn't cool the cabin down that well--mainly due to all the glass area in an '02 cabin.

So...ya pays yer $$ and ya takes yer choice...

cheers
