is it broken forever??? Gas runs into it, dosent run out. I am sad. What can I do besides get a manual pump? Is a manual pump just a direct replacement? I know I ask lots of dumb questions but I am very, very new at this.

What kind of 02? is it for a Tii? Or a DCOE carbed car? does the pump make a whirring sound? sometimes the brushes can be replaced in the motor, but usually you get another pump. The mechanical pump probably won't flow well enough for 2 DCOE carbs, and definately cannot sustain a Tii...

Its a 1600, with dual webers, which is why I am guessing the previous owner switched to an electric pump. It is an external pump with "Interco" stamped on it. The pump makes the usual noises like it did when it worked, but nothing is coming out. I think it may be clogged or something. Heres another newbie question... If the electric pump is on the outside, what is on the inside of the tank, a fuel filter? I want to take it out, but the tank is very full and it is leaking alot when I attempt to remove it. Any suggestions?

Is there any way of telling if the sending unit is bad? I doubt thats the problem because the tube that runs from the sending unit to the electric pump has gas in it. Help!! I need to know what to order to replace my fuel pump! Will a manual pump be able to work with my setup?

Do one thing at a time. Fix the fuel pump issue before messing with the sending unit/gas pickup tube in the tank. Fool around with too many things at once, and you'll have difficulty knowing what the original problem actually was, and how you fixed it!

1. I presume the pump is getting electricity, and gas on the inlet side. Check this first, and also look to see if there's an inlet screen on the pump itself. Some have 'em, some don't. Then...

2. remove elec pump and try squirting carb cleaner into the inlet side to see if anything comes out the outlet (protect your eyes in case it squirts back). if that isn't successful, try it the other way--squirt into the outlet side--if there's blockage, sometimes that will dislodge it.

3. Hook up the pump to +12v on the bench and see if it makes noise, then dip the inlet side (with suitable length of hose) into a can of kerosene (don't use gas--VERY dangerous) and see if it'll pump. If not, the pump may be toast, unless you can take the pump end of it apart and try to clean it out.

It may be toast anyway, since there's a very fine mesh screen at the bottom of the gas pickup tube inside the tank, and not a lot of trash gets by it--it would take a long time for that filter screen to pass enough fine crud to clog a fuel pump. New electric pumps aren't that expensive...

And BTY, an OEM mechanical pump should handle those webers....after all the 1600 and 2002ti's had dual sidedraft 40PHH solexes that were supplied by a mechanical pump--from the factory.

Good luck
