Collector car insurance- Availability/experience? Ready to start prep on '02s to the road. Have '68 and '73. Low cost insurance is a factor in whch hits the road first. Have three later mod BMWs, etc so limited miles or use OK. If '02s are as good as I remember, one can be converted to regular ins and the late mods can go.

for 72 tii and 73 02, in NJ. Stated value policy. Haven't had to file a claim yet.

The only important exclusions I can recall are: cars are not to be used in racing events; not to be used for driving to work, they have to ALWAYS be garaged.

Hope that helps..

I have one car with each. The latter required photos of the car and garage before writing the policy - wanted to be sure it was worth their threshhold value of $3,000. Both AC and Hagerty say the car must be in good condition - not necessarily restored, but not a parts car or rustbucket either.

AC offers only comp and coll only. Price for $3,000 each on '68 and '73 as a package is $36/yr. AC does not offer liability.

Occasional driving OK. Sending more info which will detail amount of use.

Hagerty online quote was $105/yr (I assume) for '68 valued at $3,500. Liability, comp and coll. Uninsured motorist, I don't recall. Limits something like 30/60 with $500 deductible (my choice).

Bonus- Single liability charge covers n cars. Interesting that a single liability covers all. Maybe they, unlike State Farm, understand that one person can't drive more than one car at a time.

The premium is directly proportionate to the value of your car. That being said, I have had good service from Parish Heacock for both my 73tii and 67' Mini Cooper S. Premium was around $300 for comp, coll and liability; 2500 to 3000 miles per year, values over $10k each.
