Trick to free Rear brake shoes rusted to drums. I posted for help on prob. Found fix.

Remove wheels. With big rubber hammer, pound drums at 12,6 and 3,9 o'clock. Springs in brake assy apparently allow shoes to move just enough to break rust bond. Pound until obvious gap appears at 12 o'clock. Slide em off.

Is this good enough trick to turn into a FAQ?

Make sure the handbrake retaining nuts are fully released in the cockpit and push the cables aft, by hand, to help release the emergency brakes.

No need to adj handbrake or shoe adjusters. If drums are rusted the adjusters prob are too. With drums off aren't adjuster bolt ends accessible from inside for addnl. lube.

Trick worked on '73 sitting for 9 yrs and very rusty '76 sitting for 8 yrs.

Pound, pound, pound!
