The tranny in the track car I bought has the number 000514B0 stamped on the top of the bellhousing. What is this number? I thought that the VIN of the car that it originally came out of was supposed to be there. I believe the tranny is a 245/10. It has the CR shift pattern and the tail section numbers start with 242. Could you buy these trannys as a seperate part from BMW motorsports? There is no previous owner of this car that I know about to ask. I was told that the PO was dead by the dealer who sold me the car. If its any help, the engine number has MASR 5/85 stamped next to it. (Mountain Auto Sport Racing May 1985) Apparently the engine was built at Kermit Upton's shop, but his records don't shed much info. Does anyone have any idea what this number is or where this tranny came from?

I have a CR dogleg transmission from an e-21. The number on the rear of the transmission is 242.0.0291.05.

There is a very rare option for a CR transmission for the 2002 but I do not know the numbers.

The VIN number you talk about is unfamiliar to me but I have not seen a stock four speed in an 02 to know.

Those numbers are similar or even the same as mine. There is nothing stock or even road going about my car. There is no interior, dashboard, lights, etc. It is a full on race car. I know that the tranny's were fitted to e21's, and mine was probably installed at the same time the motor was built in May of 85. Does your tranny carry the VIN of the e21 on the bell or is it a different number like mine?

Hello, Mike S in detroit. Goto realoem lookup 23 00 1 207 146 for pn search. In the description you wil note the suffix you are mentioning (BO). Either you are lucky, or you need parts to repair. I just took a a look at my transmissions and discovered the GH/BN/(BO) codes have some significance. (BO) denotes a CR sport box, date isolation is on the bellhousing, usually with the early last two digits (looks like a fraction) production timeframe of the year on top with a fraction line to the latest production year last two digits on the bottom. I learned something today. Thanks! Have a good day.

The tranny is fine. There is nothing wrong with it except it could use a new guigo. I was just hoping someone could shed some light on the number stamped into the bellhousing. I don't see any other numbers on top of the bell except the ones posted. I don't see the build date or any slashes on the tranny. I know what it is, I would like to know where it came from. Did they sell these trannies as a seperate performance piece, or did you have to rifle them out of another Euro spec BMW?
