I've been looking forever for a state-of-the-art rear disc conversion that allows one to maintain the emergency brake. Not that there is anything wrong with the kits over here, but I just wanted something more trick to tie into my overall concept for the M2 (http://www.m2bmw.com/cooper.htm). Thanks to Nick Vyse for this information! Afer 15 years of development, this is literally the last piece of the puzzle for me now that the CF hood/trunk are installed. Now if I can just get these guys to respond to my email!

...These guys don't make a specific kit for the '02...I'll be having the guy who build my cage and other stuff do the installation if this goes down.

Looks like a good caliper to use. I was eyeballing the rear calipers on the Lotus Elese. They are small, light and have a hand break pull. Haven't seen too many being parted out yet but the calipers are made by Brembo.

Coop are you going to to the Swap n Show this year? I am going to be 02less once again and was wondering if you need a navigator?

Last year was fun...Just wait 'til you see how far the car has come since then! If it works out, I'd be more than happy to take you on as Navigator!

I already explored that path, and the Aardvarc Racing path, and many, many others...The problem is, I really want something super trick and purty! It's a disease...

A real trick real e-brake caliper would be one hydraulically actuated, just like the rallye cars. That means a normal rear caliper actuated by the braking system, and a second caliper fed by a MC actuated by a hand-brake.

I have seen some calipers that had one set of pistons for real brakes, and another integrated set ofe e-brake. All in one caliper. perhaps you should investigate in this direction. No more e-brake cable to rust or readjust...

Brake harder. Go faster.

Without some sort of accumulator, psi will bleed off over time and there goes your e-brake. I agree that a pk brake like a rally car would be cool but how do we make it stay on if you park on a hill and not leave it in gear? That's the real test.

I've got a set of Wilwood Forged Billet Superlights that I've just about finished mounting on the rear hub. It just takes a simple plate to get a vertically mounted caliper in the rear. I mocked it up in plywood for now, but I'll post pics once its roadworthy.

Ian - Where'd you get the Wilwoods? Any problems fitting the backspace (e.g., what wheel size and offset are you running)? I think the Wilwoods would be an awesome mod for someone not fixated on maintaining strict BMW purity on parts. More info, please...
